Sodium chlorite is used together with an activator to make chlorine dioxide. For sodium chlorite activation, citric acid or hydrochloric acid is used in a 1:1 ratio. 2 drops of sodium chlorite and 2 drops of activator for each liter of water to be treated.

Sodium Chlorite (NaClO2) is very useful for the treatment and disinfection of water for human and animal consumption. It is also very effective in cleaning rooms and disinfecting air ducts and other ventilation systems. Sodium chlorite should not be used alone and should always be activated with an activator.

Drinking water treatment:

The treatment dose depends on the composition of the raw water. Appropriate measures should be taken to avoid exceeding the maximum permissible concentration of chlorine dioxide at the point of use, which generally depends on local regulations.

Additional analytical control: Trihalomethanes (THMs), ensuring that the values ​​at the consumer delivery points are lower than the parametric values ​​(VP) defined in RD 3/2023, 700 µg/L for chlorites.

The product is applied using a chlorine dioxide generator.
